On February 14th, 2022 at approximately 7:58 p.m., Watervliet police officers conducted a motor vehicle stop in the area of Broadway at Seventh Street after observing violations of the NYS Vehicle and Traffic Law. Through investigation, it was discovered that the driver, Jeffrey O. Meadows III, was operating the vehicle with a suspended NYS Driver’s License.
Officers located a loaded, illegally-possessed handgun (photo attached) inside Meadows’ vehicle. As a result, Meadows and the passenger, Kamao B. Douglas, were arrested.
Hours prior to the handgun arrest, Douglas was released from Washington Correctional Facility after serving 14 months for an Assault in the 2nd Degree conviction resulting from of a September 2020 shooting that occurred in Troy, NY.
Watervliet police charged Meadows, a 20-year-old male from Albany (photo attached) with Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 2nd Degree (Class C Felony), Criminal Possession of a Firearm (Class E Felony), Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the 3rd Degree (Unclassified Misdemeanor) and other Vehicle and Traffic Law violations.
Watervliet police charged Douglas, a 20-year-old male from Watervliet (photo attached) with Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 2nd Degree (Class C Felony) and Criminal Possession of a Firearm (Class E Felony).
Douglas was arraigned in Watervliet City Court and remanded to the Albany County Correctional Facility. Meadows was released after posting $50 thousand dollars bail.
