On June 2, 2023, at approximately 2 p.m., Watervliet police officers conducted a motor vehicle stop on Broadway and Third Avenue after observing violations of the NYS Vehicle and Traffic Law. Through investigation, it was determined the operator, Maisha M. Haynes, was operating the vehicle with a suspended license.
Officers located a loaded, illegally-possessed handgun, five grams of cocaine and $1,341.00 of US currency (photo attached) inside Haynes’ vehicle. As a result, Haynes and the passenger, Milasia F. Willingham, were arrested.
 
Watervliet police charged Haynes, a 26-year-old female from Halfmoon (photo attached) with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd Degree (Class B Felony), Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 2nd Degree (Class C Felony), Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 4th Degree (Class C Felony) and other Vehicle and Traffic Law violations.
In addition, Willingham, a 26-year-old female from Albany (photo attached) was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd Degree (Class B Felony), Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 2nd Degree (Class C Felony), Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 4th Degree (Class C Felony) and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 3rd Degree (Class D Felony).
Haynes and Willingham were initially arraigned in Watervliet City Court and remanded to the Albany County Correctional Facility. However, on June 9, 2023, both defendants were released to the supervision of probation.
