On January 7, 2023, at approximately 1:37 a.m., the Watervliet Police Department responded to 2612 4th Ave. for a reported assault. Upon investigation, it was determined that Brad A. Bova attempted to stab two victims inside of the residence with a large knife. Bova then barricaded himself in the apartment.

 

At the conclusion of a search warrant executed by the Watervliet Police Department, in conjunction with the Colonie Police Department’s Special Services Team, Cohoes Police Department and Green Island Police Department, Bova was taken into custody.

 

Watervliet Police charged Brad A. Bova, a 43-year-old male from Watervliet (photo attached) with Attempted Assault in the 2nd Degree (Class D Felony), Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 3rd Degree (Class D Felony), Assault in the 3rd Degree (Class A Misdemeanor) and two counts of Menacing in the 2nd Degree (Class A Misdemeanor).

Bova was arraigned in Watervliet City Court and remanded to the Albany County Correctional Facility.

 

Highlights of Bova’s Criminal History

  1. In October 2000, Bova was convicted of Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd Degree and sentenced to three to six years in New York state prison. Bova was released to parole after serving 14 months. He violated parole and served additional time in prison. His parole concluded in June 2006.

 

  1. In May 2007, Bova was convicted of Attempted Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance in the 1st Degree and served one year in jail.

 

  1. In July 2011, Bova was convicted of Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd Degree and sentenced to five years in New York state prison. Bova was released to parole after serving three and a half years. He violated parole and served additional time in prison. His parole concluded in March 2018.

 

  1. In November 2017, Bova was convicted of Attempted Burglary in the 3rd Degree and sentenced to 18 months to three years in New York state prison. Bova was released to parole after serving 19 months. He violated parole and served additional time in prison. His parole concluded in June 2021.

 

 

 

 

In summary, Bova has been arrested 12 times since 1997 and charged with eight felonies (four of which were violent) and four misdemeanors. He has been convicted of four felonies and five misdemeanors which resulted in seven years of incarceration.
