On September 7, 2022, at approximately 10:30 p.m., the Watervliet Police Department’s Community Support Unit, in conjunction with members of the patrol division, conducted a motor vehicle stop on 12th Avenue after observing violations of the NYS Vehicle and Traffic Law. Upon a search of the vehicle which was operated by Adrian X. Torres, officers discovered 8.8 pounds of cannabis, 5.75 pounds of concentrated cannabis, 42 grams of hallucinogenic mushrooms and over $10,000 of U.S. currency (photos attached).
The street value of the seized drugs is approximately $40,000.
Watervliet Police charged Torres, an 18-year-old male from Albany (photo attached) with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 2nd Degree (Class A-II Felony), Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd Degree (Class B Felony), Criminal Possession of Cannabis in the 1st Degree (Class D Felony), Criminal Use of Drug Paraphernalia in the 2nd Degree (Class A Misdemeanor) and other Vehicle and Traffic Law violations.
Torres was arraigned in Watervliet City Court and released on his own recognizance.
