The members of the Watervliet Police Department are working around the clock to continue to monitor the recent outbreak of COVID-19. The WPD will be taking additional steps to ensure the health and safety of the community while continuing to provide quality law enforcement services. The following steps will be implemented immediately:
-Access to Watervliet PD Headquarters located at #2 15th Street, will be limited to essential personnel only. All civilians and non-essential personnel shall have limited access to the lobby area.
-We will be temporarily suspending child safety seat installations. All requests will be forwarded to our CPS technicians who will complete requests upon the lift of the suspension.
-The process of conducting pistol permit interviews will be temporarily suspended.
-All scheduled ride-alongs will be temporarily suspended.
IMPORTANT- If you are requesting police service, a police officer may not respond to your location depending on the nature of the call. If the complaint is non-criminal in nature our officers may contact you over the phone to complete a report. If an officer responds to your location for any reason, we ask you to advise our officers and dispatchers if you are experiencing any flu-like symptoms at the time. This ensures health and safety to ALL parties involved.
We would like to thank all residents for their continued support and patience. This situation is always changing and we will continue to disseminate any information we obtain as soon as possible. Please monitor the WPD’s social media accounts for more updates. As always, continue to call 911 for any emergencies.
