On Saturday, October 24th, 2020, while investigating a crime alleged to have occurred in the City of Watervliet, information was obtained about a resident who may be in possession of firearms, explosives and narcotics at 439 3rd Avenue. Upon receiving this information, a complex and multi-agency investigation immediately commenced, which resulted in a search warrant being obtained for the residence. With the assistance of federal, state and local law enforcement agencies, local evacuations were made and the residence in question was searched. The Watervliet Police Department was assisted in this search from various emergency response teams that include the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Evidence Recovery Team, NYSP Bomb Disposal Unit, Troy Police Emergency Response Team and the Colonie Police Department Special Services Team. Numerous pieces of evidence were secured and the investigation remains on going.

The suspect in question Joseph P. Brady, Age 40, was located at the residence. Brady was questioned by Watervliet Police Detectives and subsequently arrested without incident for charges related to an alleged sexual assault of an 18-year old female victim and other unlawful conduct to a 16-year old male victim. Brady has been charged with several crimes to include: PL 130.65 (2) Sexual Abuse in the 1st degree a class D felony, PL 260.20 (1) Unlawfully Dealing with a Child in the 1st degree a class A misdemeanor, PL 260.10 (1) Endangering the Welfare of a Child (1) a class A misdemeanor and two counts of PL 135.05 Unlawful Imprisonment in the 2nd degree a class A misdemeanor. Brady was arraigned before the Honorable Judge Liotta and remanded to the Albany County Correction Facility with bail set at $50,000.00.
